    Responsibilities


    Ascension Saint Agnes is looking for a Bariatric Registered Dietitian to work with our bariatric team of surgeons, nurses, and mental health professionals.


    Responsibilities:

    • Assesses nutritional and health status of bariatric surgery patients, pre- and post-surgery.
    • Develops customized nutrition care plans that support weight loss goals and optimal health.
    • Collaborates with bariatric program team including surgeons, nurses, and mental health professionals to ensure coordination throughout the continuum of care.
    • Develops patient education materials and classes. Provides education to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
    • Provides individual and group nutrition counseling to bariatric surgery patients.
    • Faciliatates support groups.
    • Monitors effectiveness of nutritional regimen, provides medical nutrition therapy, and evaluates effectiveness of treatments.
    • Participates in marketing and community education activities to promote the Bariatric Program.
    Requirements


    Licensure / Certification / Registration:

    • Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
    • Educator specializing in Diabetes Management credentialed from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) preferred.

    Education:

    • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
    degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

    Additional Preferences


    Additional Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, dietetics or related field

    Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetics Registration

    Current licensure in the state of Maryland as a Dietition/Nutritionist

    Prior completion of a specialty fellowship program or active specialty certification: CNSC, CDCES, CSR, CSP, CSO, IBCLC

    Maintenance of 30 CEU's/2 years (20 CEU in a specialty area every two years)


    Preferences:
    Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred

    Experience with bariatric patients preferred but willing to train the right candidate
