    Job Class: Non-Exempt / Reports To: Food & Beverage Supervisor


    POSITION SUMMARY: The Barback is responsible for assisting the Bartender, making sure that everything is at the bar and that there enough backup supplies for the shift/night.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: NOTE: Legacy Management & Development may unilaterally change the requirements of this job description at any time. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Setting up the bar: get ice for all of the wells, prepare fruit trays (garnishes), restock the bar with beer, liquor, wine, glassware, juices, etc. (always rotating the products), check the draught beers to make sure they are working and that they are not empty, get trash can and towels and finally make sure bar is clean before opening it.
    • Managing the workflow: collect empty glasses from the bar, wash glassware, wipe the bar top, restock the bar, and help the bartender with anything that he/she needs.
    • Maintaining and fixing equipment as needed are duties for a Barback (clog sinks and equipment mishaps are common).
    • Promptly welcome each guest personally.
    • Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone, and body language at all times. Make guests feel appreciated through your actions.
    • Work as a team with all Hotel Andaluz personnel in order to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.
    • Work with others to keep all areas cleaned, stocked, and safe at all times.
    • Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in agreement with Hotel Andaluz standards.
    • Wash and sterilize stemware.
    • Perform needed bar prep.
    • Closing duties: wash all the glasses, restock beer, liquor, etc., clean the bar, place dirty towels in their appropriate location, make sure beer cooler is clean and organized, always remember to "close to open."
    • Cleanup includes picking up all trash in the bar area and throwing it out, wiping down equipment, and restocking all basic supplies.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Previous experience in a bar and/or restaurant setting.
    • Must possess outstanding customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills as well as excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
    • Must possess excellent communication skills, verbally interacts with management, servers, team members, and guests with proper etiquette, grammar and spelling
    • Must be Alcohol Certified in the state of New Mexico or be able to pass Responsible Service of Alcohol Test within 30 days of hire.
    • Must possess basic math skills and have the ability to operate cash register and/or POS system and count back change
    • Must be able to communicate in English with guests, management, and other employees to their understanding. Additional languages skills a plus
    • Must have knowledge of workplace safety procedures
