Our client, located in Macon, GA, is looking for an Applications Engineer. The role is responsible for research, design, develop, or test electronic components and systems for commercial, industrial, or scientific use employing knowledge of electronic theory and materials properties.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with account managers to apply automation products based on assessment of customer's needs.
• Coordinate and assist account managers with customer plant visits as needed.
• Provide advice on technical issues to others as needed.
• Work with products used inside of control panels (power supplies, contactors, starters, breakers, transformers, fuses, etc.)
• Read electrical schematics.
• Must have a good understanding of the basics and a willingness to learn.
• Will specify, program, support, and sell the key Automation products as assigned.
• Document and report technical work; perform other duties as assigned.
• Ability to program and troubleshoot various control products.
• Provide recommendations to customers for upgrades of obsolete equipment.
• Work with electric motors and variable frequency drives. It is important to understand how to apply, program, troubleshoot and repair variable frequency drives (VFDs). This is a key element of our business, and we apply VFDs and motors across multiple industries in many different applications.

Detailed Work Activities

• Apply, program, troubleshoot and repair variable frequency drives.
• Program and troubleshoot various control products.
• Evaluate characteristics of equipment or systems.
• Recommend upgrades to equipment or processes utilizing company products and services.
• Communicate technical information to suppliers, contractors, and customers.

Candidate requirements

• Good attitude
• Good with people
• Ability to explain complex topics in simple terms.
• 2-4 years of experience in one of the following areas: Maintenance, Electronics, E&I, Technical Sales, Electrical, Machine Design, Applications engineering
• Technical, military or trade school certifications
• Successful candidates must submit to post offer pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, and have an acceptable 3-year Motor Vehicle Report as may be required by current company policy.

This position does require occasional travel
