- Provides basic patient care under the supervision of an RN and an LVN. Documents patient care as directed. Participates in providing a safe therapeutic environment, and develops and maintains effective communication with the patient, family, and staff members.

POSITION SUMMARY
Vocational Nurse according to established procedures. Acknowledges and responds appropriately to the hospital's customer relations philosophy, including the five fundamentals of the AIDET program.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Minimum Education
High School graduate preferred
Required Certification
Completion of Nurse Assistant Course and CPR certification required.
Physical DemandsProlonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and/or crouching.
Work ScheduleRequires working 6:45 a.m. to 19:15 p.m. with one 30-minute meal break, when assigned to day shift. Requires working 18:45 pm to 07:15 am with one 30-minute meal break, when assigned to night shift. Before starting any break, notify the House Supervisor and give the estimated time of the break being taken so that interruption will be minimized except for a major emergency i.e., Code Blue. The rotation and coverage include holidays and weekends.
Working ConditionsRegularly exposed to risk of bloodborne diseases. Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, and illness). Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. May perform emergency care. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and injuries.
