    Job Duties


    To provide the optimal type and level of acute and intermediate mental healthcare for those individuals who meet the criteria for admission to and continued care in the Geriatric Program at SWVMHI.

    The Geriatric Program seeks to provide these services in a caring professional, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented environment.

    Using a customer service model, the Program strives to function in partnership with constituent CSBs and private healthcare entities, as well as Law Enforcement and the family members, friends and other supportive individuals in the lives of those we serve.

    Minimum Qualifications


    Must have considerable knowledge of behavioral health diagnosis group and individual treatment techniques, ability to provide services that are best practice, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented environment utilizing a customer service mindset in which individuals, families, community, and fellow providers are all viewed as customer groups.

    Must be able to utilize basic computer skills to document Active Treatment, to track service hours and other relevant statistical data.

    Must be able to assist the Unit Program Director in focusing programming on the needs of the individuals on the Unit at any particular point in time.

    Must also be able to communicate clearly orally and in writing with all stake holders and customer groups, market services effectively to treatment teams and other relevant parties, in order to maximize productive use of direct service resources.

    Must have the ability to work in a secure and locked environment with individuals who are experiencing acute symptoms of mental illness and/or additional forensic/legal involvement.

    Additional Considerations


    Strongly prefer bachelor's degree in human services, mental health, substance abuse, or developmental disabilities, or graduation from high school with college bachelor's level coursework and a combination of relevant training and experience.

    Previous experience providing therapeutic activity, social, or leisure services with services with inpatient individuals with mental illness, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities desired.

    Experience in planning and implementing rehabilitation.
