- Assist investigators plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the nutrition component of research protocols
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among investigators with an interest in nutrition and provides nutritional instruction and training opportunities for research coordinators, nurses, and dietetic interns
- Work directly with principal investigators and study teams as they plan and design study protocols
- Understand and promote MCW/CTSI objectives, culture, and encourage staff to grow professionally within the organization.
- Motivate and inspire ATRU staff by acknowledging individual achievements/contributions and providing adequate support and the necessary tools to allow staff to complete tasks efficiently.
- In collaboration with the ATRU Administrative Managers/Leadership, develop and implement department policies, procedures, standards of practice (SOP) and organizational tools to ensure compliance with MCW, Froedtert Hospital, state, and federal standards.
- Work closely with other departments and external agencies to advance the department's research goals, services offered, and access to care in collaboration with the CTSI and ATRU Leadership.
- Prepare and review operational data.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in bionutrition research technology and regulatory mandates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Food frequency questionnaires, 24 Hour recalls, and food record keeping
- Nutrition analysis using Data Systems for Research (NDSR)
- Standard height, weight, circumference, and skinfold measurements
- Total extracellular, intercellular body water measurements
- Lean mass and percent fat body measurements
- AP Spine & femur scan for bone density
- Total body scan for total and reginal lean and adipose tissue measurements, visceral adipose tissue estimate
- Resting energy expenditure (REE) testing, respiratory quotient, doubly labeled water protocols
- Perform nutritional assessment, lifestyle evaluation and planning; calculates and records meal patterns.
- Compiles and analyzes research data and maintain records for study protocols
- Support nutritional analysis of dietary records, in addition to the design and nutrient profiling of foods, meals, and full menus specified per research protocol
