- Processes inmate requests pertaining to general and law library service.
- Ensures the library is available to the inmates a minimum of 25 hours per week.
- Assigns research duties to inmate clerks.
- Answers requests and grievances within mandatory time limits.
- Performs photocopying.
- Supervises activities of inmate aides and clerks.
- Reviews research aides' responses to requests.
- Monitors check out and return of library materials.
- Monitors interlibrary loan processing.
- Monitors use of copy machine.
- Ensures accuracy of records.
- Evaluates clerk performance for gain time review.
- Initiates appropriate disciplinary action.
- Documents provision of library services.
- Collects data and compiles reports for librarian approval.
- Forwards law library invoices.
- Forwards charge forms.
- Maintains inventory of supplies.
- Manage the resources of the library in accordance with the rules and statutes in place
- Knowledge of the procedures for classifying, cataloging, and using authority files for library materials.
- Ability to maintain book collections.
- Ability to perform acquisitions processes for print or non-print library materials.
- Ability to assist users in locating and using materials.
- Ability to perform basic circulation functions according to established procedures.
