Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems and equipment for industrial automation projects.
They will work closely with project managers, mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers to ensure that control systems are integrated effectively into overall project plans.
This position requires a strong understanding of control theory and the ability to program, test, and troubleshoot control systems.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design and Development:
Design and develop control algorithms, software, and hardware components for battery management systems to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of batteries throughout their lifecycle.
This involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, hardware engineers, software developers, and test engineers.Control Algorithm Development:
Develop advanced control algorithms for state-of-the-art battery management systems, including state estimation, state-of-charge (SOC) estimation, state-of-health (SOH) estimation, thermal management, voltage balancing, and fault detection and diagnosis.
System Integration:
Integrate control algorithms and software modules into embedded systems and hardware platforms, such as microcontrollers, ensuring robust communication and interoperability with other vehicle or system components.
Performance Optimization:
Optimize battery management control algorithms and strategies to enhance battery performance, lifespan, energy efficiency, and safety while minimizing cost and complexity.
Conduct simulations, modeling, and analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of control algorithms under various operating conditions and use cases.Validation and Testing:
Develop test plans and procedures to validate the functionality, reliability, and safety of battery management control systems through simulation, bench testing, and real-world testing.
Analyze test results, identify issues or areas for improvement, and iterate on control algorithms and software implementations accordingly.Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare technical documentation, specifications, design documents, and reports related to battery management control system development, validation, and implementation. Communicate project status, milestones, and technical challenges to stakeholders, project managers, and senior leadership.
Qualifications and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering discipline plus one year industry experience in controls/embedded/automotive domain.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and embedded software development.
Experience with control systems theory, including PID control, state-space modeling, optimization techniques, data driven modeling using AI/ML principles.
Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, model-based design, and rapid prototyping tools (e.g., dSPACE).
Working knowledge of CAN and LIN based tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape, neoVI.
Experience with debugging software using tools like Lauterbach/ETAS INCA
Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Prior experience in battery management controls, electric vehicle systems, power electronics, or related fields is highly desirable.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations governing battery management and automotive electronics (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, SAE J1772) is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within tight deadlines.#J-18808-Ljbffr
