    Description

    One of the nation's leaders in heavy civil construction is looking for a Superintendent to join their team. Projects include heavy civil, rail construction, asphalt paving and general contracting.

    This is a highly respected general contractor with over 100 years of history and a reputation of providing excellence in civil construction.

    Must be willing to travel.


    DESCRIPTION:
    The Superintendent will be responsible for the daily onsite field management and execution of the daily activities associated with heavy civil, DOT, and rail projects. This individual will also coordinate the daily work activities, including scheduling of labor, equipment, vendors and subcontractors. This position works directly with the Project Manager on completing the project safely, on schedule and within budget.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collaborate with estimating, purchasing, accounting and project management on all aspects of project start-up and preconstruction planning
    • Monitor project schedule and daily production goals
    • Schedule labor for all field jobs, track and approve hours for payroll, communicate and enforce policies/procedures, and approve time-off requests
    • Coordinate site personnel assignment of work
    • Execute on contractual requirements and obligations
    • Collaborate with Site Safety Director to manage the site safety program
    • Evaluate project problems with Project Managers and assist in finding resolution
    • Monitor expenses to ensure budget compliance
    • Prepare and submit required reports detailing employee and equipment hours, completed quantities, and other activities
    • Assist with all aspects of project close out

    EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred).
    • At least 5 years of industry experience, with at least 2 of those years working in a supervisory capacity.

    A combination of equivalent education and work experience may be considered

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience working on heavy civil, DOT and/or rail projects. Earthwork, excavation, grading, paving, bridgework, rail, wet and dry utilities etc
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Detail-oriented, and good organization skills.
    • Ability to communicate well with others.
    • Must be willing to travel.
