Description
POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for providing accounting services for SFI including internal and external financial reports, accounting records, and ensure reported results comply with SFI's policies, procedures, practices and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Interacts with team members, providing indirect daily leadership with the accounting team.
Prepares and analyzes various account reconciliations.
Prepare and analyze various reports, such as internal and external reports, financial statements, and production sight data.
Understands and prepares sales, use tax, and other required compliance reporting.
Prioritizes job responsibilities to maximize efficiency and meet commitments and deadlines.
Assist in the development of standardized processes to create an operationally efficient team.
Documents and keeps work procedures up to date.
Provides suggestions for process improvements
Works under deadlines, resolving and correcting errors, and maintaining excellent communications with all locations and teams.
Maintain confidentiality of information and adhere to policies and procedures
Be a collaborative team player who demonstrates teamwork with all team members.
Contributes to the achievement of SFI and team goals
Completes special assignments and projects.
Maintain strong internal and external relationships by providing consistent level of service, which is timely, thorough and responsive
Work with the Finance and Accounting Team to provide needed information in an accurate and timely manner to facilitate department responsibilities
Ensure privacy policies and procedures established by SFI regarding protected health information are implemented and maintained
Advocate and engage in SFI's animal welfare policy, including promoting animal well-being, remedying circumstances which impede animal care, and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (or equivalent):
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and/or 2 years of financial accounting experience.
Understanding of accounting and financial principles
Medium technical skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.), and other related accounting and/or report writing software applications.
A high degree of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
High degree of confidentiality, professionalism and business ethics
Be detail-oriented; able to multi-task and work independently
Project management skills, including assist in planning, guiding, and implementing projects and responsibilities
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Training or experience in financial reporting
The preceding qualifications are guidelines. Other combinations of education and experience could provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
Position may involve travel and non-standard business hours.
