    Job DescriptionThe Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily production activities, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, execution of scheduled production activities, optimizing processes for efficiency, and managing a team of skilled production staff.

    This role requires a strong background in custom, engineered to order manufacturing, excellent leadership and communications skills, and a proactive approach to driving operational excellence.


    Accountabilities:


    Manage and coordinate all production activities in the Fabrication Shop, Machine Shop and Production Control departments to optimize execution, production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

    Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications.
    Supervise and develop team members to maintain high performance levels.
    Building a collaborative environment with engineering teams to address technical issues and to improve product design and manufacturability.


    Essential Functions:
    Works with Safety Manager to maintain a safe working environment and promotes a zero-accident expectation to team members.
    Directs all production operations working thru Superintendents and Supervisors to accomplish business KPI's, team member development and performance evaluations.
    Manage performance management systems, production plans, and performance criteria and analyzing data to create and implement improvement plans.
    Meets production goals relative to schedule adherence, operating efficiencies, and labor utilization.
    Monitor project schedules, coordinate cross functional reviews to achieve on-time delivery and schedule recovery efforts.
    Encourages collaborative problem solving.
    Contributes to annual budget preparation and monitors expenditures.
    Forecasts production output and publishes forecasted backlog and pipeline to manage capacity.
    Implements effective communication plans to keep alignment between direct and indirect team members on business and customer goals.
    Ensures effective team member engagement and relations. Makes employment decisions and resolves team member issues or concerns.
    Assess talent and manage the hiring pipeline for the production team. Able to on-board, mentor and oversee training for growing skilled trades team members.
    Report on key performance indicators, issues or needs and provides regular updates to VP of Operations.
    Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong leadership and team management skills.
    Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Must possess strong training/facilitation skills.

    Familiarity with operational excellence principles, quality management systems and the ability to lead a team thru resistance to organizational changes.

    Must be able to prioritize based on business needs and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    Possess a dedicated and lead by example personality.
    Ability to present ideas on the plant floor and training room using Power Point.

    QualificationsRequired Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related technical fieldMinimum of 10 years proven experience in operations management, preferably in a custom heavy manufacturing environmentMinimum of 5 years of experience supervising manufacturing shop line managers requiredEnvironment and Working ConditionsWork is conducted in an office and an indoor fabrication and machine shop environment.


    Exposure to loud noises (examples:

    metal can manufacture department, large earth-moving equipment)Travel Requirements (percent)Up to 10%, travel is not required but may be necessary to visit vendors or benchmark other factories.
