    Job Summary:

    The Staff Perfusionist will operate the heart-lung machine for open heart surgery, as well as all ancillary equipment associated with cardiovascular perfusion duties.

    Responsibilities include selecting the appropriate equipment and techniques available to perform extracorporeal circulation functions in consultation with the physician, purchasing supplies and equipment, assuring periodic maintenance of same, as well as for appropriate personnel and departmental management, development and implementation of policies and procedures, quality assurance measures and staff development, and education and research.


    Minimum Qualifications:
    New York State Licensed Perfusionist, or eligible required.
    Board Certified, or eligible, by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required.

    Associates degree or higherfrom an accredited perfusion training program or equivalent credits in an accredited graduate perfusion training program with a minimum of two years of relevant experience required.

    CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Significant relevant work experience preferred. Previous pediatric perfusion/ecmo experience preferred. Experience as a clinical Perfusionist, familiar with Sorin S5 pumps, CentriMag VAD/ECMO devices and Quadrox oxygenators preferred.
