    Job Description: Arcadia University's Department of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, is accepting applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-eligible faculty position in Public Health at the Assistant or Associate Professor level also with the role of department chair. This is a 9-month contract, but the chair role will involve required summer hours with a stipend.

    The Department of Public Health at Arcadia University has accredited public health programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Programs offered within the Department include a BSPH with a concentration in Global Health; an undergraduate minor in Global Public Health; MPH with a Community Health concentration; MPH dual degrees with the Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, International Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Counseling programs; and newly launching (Summer 2024) online MPH and Health Equity certificate. The department and College of Health Sciences, and University have goals centered on achieving health equity; advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion; and combating anti-Black racism. A typical 9- month faculty role involves advising expectations and a 3(fall):3(spring) course load, and the chair position involves course release(s) and/or stipend.

    Responsibilities:

    We seek an experienced colleague in academia with a background in public health whose teaching and scholarly expertise include biostatistics, health policy, research methods, and health equity.
    Duties will include teaching courses such as biostatistics, research methods, health policy, or capstone research, advising graduate and/or undergraduate students, and active research or scholarly innovation with funding.
    Candidates should have a strong interest in teaching; curriculum development and oversight; student engagement; faculty and staff assessment and development; and department/program management.
    Candidates will have a proven record of teaching excellence at the graduate and undergraduate levels, including online, professional excellence, and scholarly innovation and implementation.
    Research areas of interest include those related to public health and population health, including engaging community and interdisciplinary health programming that seeks benefit among marginalized and minoritized populations.
    Previous experience in project management and community engagement is recommended.
    The chair role will involve:

    Broad oversight of the graduate and undergraduate programming in public health, including the respective graduate and undergraduate program directors and support staff.

    Curriculum management and support of faculty excellence in teaching.

    Implementation and monitoring of any developing programming, including the online MPH, Health Equity certificate, and other graduate or undergraduate initiatives;

    Accreditation responsibility and oversight for graduate and undergraduate programming and coordination with directors

    Overall administration of the department.

    Qualifications:

    Candidates for the position must meet the following requirements:
    Terminal degree (PhD, DrPH) in public health or related health field.
    Strong expertise and evidence of teaching and curricular excellence at the undergraduate and/or graduate level with online and/or onsite modalities.
    Evidence of teaching and scholarly innovation related in-part to addressing health disparities.
    Evidence of independent, funded (preferred), and collaborative research and scholarly innovation.
    Proven leadership and project management experience;
    Strong written and oral communication skills.
    Expertise with admissions processes, data management, reporting systems, curricular advancement and accreditation.
