Scope: As a Material Handler at Gasser Chair, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth flow of materials throughout our production facility. You will play a critical role in supporting our manufacturing operations by efficiently handling, organizing, and transporting materials to designated production areas. Your attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate inventory records will contribute directly to our ability to meet production goals and deliver high-quality products to our customers on time.

Summary description:

Maintain a pulse on material flow throughout the manufacturing operation, and bring recommendations for process improvement to the Logistics Manager for consideration.
Ensure post-production materials - i.e. surplus inventory items, empty material carts/containers/pallets, and/or scrap items - are promptly retrieved from manufacturing areas after job completion and transferred to appropriate locations.
Load/unload trucks visually examining material condition for damage or obvious quality issues, and verifying accuracy of manifests, packing lists, or orders against parts and count of pieces. Document verification of receipt, condition, count and location stored. Coordinate with Quality Assurance Team an inspection of incoming materials before receiving to inventory.
Monitor material moves/receipts to ensure transactions are recorded into the ERP System in an accurate and timely manner by all material handlers.
Resolve receiving issues in conjunction with accounting and inventory control personnel.
Monitor production schedule and coordinate with department supervisors to properly prepare for production schedule requirements.
Maintain staging and storage areas in a neat and organized fashion, ensuring all materials are accurately marked with appropriate label or tag.
Ensure all incoming and outgoing materials are appropriately and accurately tagged.
Perform routine inventory verification cycle counts and participate in annual physical inventory.

Skills/Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required.
Proven experience as a Material Handler, Warehouse Associate or similar position.
Strong self-initiative
Ability to write simple correspondence and to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Proficiency using ERP Software and/or inventory management software programs.
Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure; Ability to read and understand measuring tools.

Physical Requirements

Ability to speak fluent English and hear distinctly.
Ability to distinguish colors.
Ability to safely move around a manufacturing plant environment; Must be able to sit approximately 1 to 3 hours per day and stand/walk 6 to 8 hours per day.
Ability to use hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
