The UW Medicine Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology has an opportunity for an Anatomic Pathology Technologist with the Histology Team at the University of Washington Medical Center – Montlake.
- Perform routine and complex procedures in histology and immunohistochemistry labs.
- Process tissue specimens for staining, embedding cutting microtomy H&E staining special staining muscle preparation IHC nerve teasing guide instruct AP technician lab assistant monitor perform quality control verify specimen labeling distribute pathologists review determine disposition improperly handled specimens identify problems notify supervisor follow-up solutions train employees pathology procedures reagents instrumentation instrument function verification solution maintenance documents equipment defects malfunctions reported repaired assess impact new procedures evaluate CAP standards maintain safe working environment participate comply CAP regulatory compliance neat clean orderly work area responsible cleaning microtome filing blocks soiled glassware end shift work independently team members monitor assess integrity materials received histology laboratory formalin fixed fresh tissue serum blood products proper correct testing results implement monitor procedures handling disposition specimens identify problems take corrective actions notify supervisor follow-through resolutions perform high complexity testing reagent preparation titration dilution applicable pathology services relating general histology Immunohistochemistry Immunofluorescence molecular studies electron microscopy autopsy death services demonstrate ability knowledge recommend testing panels formulate new procedures validate new assay antibodies aid pathologists diagnosing cases review adequacy assessment daily quality standards assurance outputs applicable testing results assess formulate new procedures Job aides update current SOPS evaluate requirements comply College American Pathologists CAP standards train employees pathology use laboratory equipment assign bench duties create schedules anatomical pathology technician trainees lab helpers students ensure workload TAT met collect record statistics case volumes metrics demonstrate laboratory values perform duties anatomical pathology technician other related duties required
