    About the Position

    The Warehouseman's primary function is to assist the issue, ship, receive, deliver and inventory of District material and equipment while maintaining appropriate records thereof.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Issue and receive all materials and equipment necessary in the performance of any services provided by the District.
    • Unload freight trucks, check all materials against packing slips to ensure materials indicated are received without damage.
    • Inventory materials.
    • Organize all materials and equipment in the storeroom and storage yard for the most efficient storage. In addition, maintain storeroom, storage yards, and adjoining areas in a clean, neat, and orderly manner.
    • Package materials for job orders as directed.
    • Deliver materials to crews as needed.
    • Collect and account for scrap materials.
    • Coordinate transfer of materials to other District headquarters, including the transport of District vehicles, as needed.
    • Operate forklift equipment and derrick truck as needed.
    • Fuel and park District vehicles.
    Other Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Secure all facilities under jurisdiction at the end of the day.
    • Regular, reliable and punctual attendance as required of a full-time schedule.
    • Works after-hours in scheduled and unscheduled conditions.
    • Works collaboratively with co-workers and other District departments.
    • Demonstrates positive interpersonal and customer service skills to courteously deal with and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other District employees, outside vendors and the general public.
    • Serve as Storekeeper in the absence of the Storekeeper as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with electrical utility material and equipment is preferred.

    Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

    Must have a valid Driver's License and a Commercial driver's license with all required endorsements. Must have a valid First Aid Card with CPR. Must be able to pass a physical examination, including a lift test and DOT drug test. Must have a valid forklift operator card.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.

    Other:

    Must score above-average on the District's Warehouseman Test. Ability to communicate clearly in a professional business-like manner, both orally and in writing. Must have the ability to learn the application of materials used by the District and anticipate their need by studying job sketches.

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to walk, maintain balance, climb inclines/stairs/ladders, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, twist, uses hands to finger, grip, handle, or feel, and sit or stand for extended periods of time. Required to lift and carry up to 100 pounds. Must have correctable, color vision, and correctable hearing. Occasionally required to hoist material unassisted by hand-line to an elevated position and look up for extended periods of time. Required to speak and hear clearly when communicating over the telephone and in person. Wears personal protective equipment as required. Mechanical ability to operate the tools of the trade.

    Work Environment:

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to indoor and outdoor environments. Outdoor settings include all types of property and site conditions including open spaces, timberlands, urban developments, flat and hilly terrain, building construction sites, and road rights-of-way. Indoor settings include commercial and industrial sites that can involve cramped spaces, moving machinery, etc. Individuals may be exposed to hazardous conditions, including but not limited to obstacles, heights, open trenches, highway traffic, electric lines, all types of vegetation, fiberglass insulation, paint fumes, wood preservatives, solvents, oils, and cleaning compounds. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

    Insurance Benefits

    Medical
    Lewis PUD offers medical and prescription coverage to eligible employees and their dependents. Employee's coverage begins the first of the month after the month they are hired and pay a composite rate of 5% through payroll deduction monthly.

    Dental and Vision
    Dental and vision coverage is also afforded to eligible employees and their dependents. Employees coverage begins the first of the month after the month of hire and the District pays 100% for these benefits.

    Retiree Coverage
    We also offer retiree medical, dental and vision benefits for those eligible.

    HRA VEBA (Voluntary Employee Benefit Association) Plan
    HRA VEBA plan is a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) which employees are enrolled into upon their hire date. Employees contribute, through payroll deduction, tax-free contributions based on specific groups as outlined below. The District matches 1% of bi-weekly gross pay.
    • Union Groups:
      • Age 35 years & Under : $40 per pay period
      • Age 36 years thru 49 years: $60 per pay period
      • Age 50 years & Older: $100 per pay period
  • Non-union Group:
    • 2% of bi-weekly gross pay
  • Life Insurance and Accidental Dismemberment (AD&D) Benefits
    • Group Coverage - District Paid
      • $40,000 life and AD&D for eligible employees
      • $1,000 life for eligible dependents
  • Supplemental Life and AD&D is available for individual purchase.
  • Short-term Disability Benefit
    Lewis County PUD provides short-term disability coverage to replace a portion of income while on an approved, non-work-related illness or injury. This benefit pays 70% of the employee's regular wages while on approved leave.

    Long-term Disability Benefits
    Base Coverage - District Paid
    • 40% of regular earnings.
    • Additional coverage of 26% (totaling 66%) of regular earnings available for individual purchase.
    Retirement Benefits

    Washington State Public Employees Retirement System (PERS)
    The District is a member of PERS and participation is mandatory for employees in eligible positions. Both the employee and the employer make contributions to the PERS system. Employee contributions are made on a tax-deferred basis.

    Deferred Compensation Program (DCP)
    This is a supplemental retirement savings program that allows control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.

    Other Benefits

    Person Leave (PL)
    The District affords eligible employee's personal leave. The leave can be used for vacation, illness, or any other absence needed from work, as requested. PL is accrued bi-weekly as outlined below:
