    Description
    Bargaining Unit: EAP

    Rate of Pay: $62.02/hour + DOE

    Summary

    Utilizes the nursing process to develop a plan of nursing care. Coordinates and delivers care to patients of all ages with a focus on gastroenterology. Assists personnel in the admission, perioperative care and discharge of patients, specializing in gastroenterology. The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating direct and indirect nursing care, and identifying outcomes for patients in the perioperative setting.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Establishing nursing diagnoses.
    • Provides health education, pre and post procedural teaching and discharge teaching to patients and significant others.
    • Administers and evaluates pharmacological and other therapeutic treatment regimens.
    • Administers moderate sedation for colonoscopy and upper endoscopy.
    • Establishes priorities and makes ethically-sound decisions to ensure safe patient care.
    • Assists the physician and endoscopy tech during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote optimal patient outcomes by team collaboration.
    • Responds to emergency situations to promote optimal patient outcomes by recognizing changes in the patient's health status.
    • Documents patient data to ensure continuity in the provision and coordination of patient care.
    • Manages follow-up care.
    • Collaborates with other health care professionals.
    • Acts as a resource for others.
    • Serves as a mentor for other nurses.
    • Participates in continuing education and achieving/maintaining certification.
    • Participates in data collection for research and using scientific findings to improve patient outcomes.
    • Monitors performance by developing and participating in performance improvement activities.
    • Participates as an active member in professional organizations.
    • Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
    • Complies with System policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as may be assigned.

    Minimum Education/Experience

    Certificate of completion from college or vocational school from a National League of Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or equivalent accredited school of nursing. The nurse shall have completed a nursing education program that included clinical experiences with actual patients under the supervision of qualified faculty.

    Required Licenses/Certifications

    California Registered Nurse (RN) - Upon hire

    Nevada Registered Nurse (RN) Within 3 months of hire into job
    NOTE: Employees in this job classification on 12/1/2022 have until June 1, 2023 to obtain a Nevada RN license. Effective December 2022, if hired as a temporary or seasonal RN, must have current CA RN license only.

    Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers - Upon hire

    Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Within 3 months of hire into job

    BLS/ACLS: Employee will be enrolled in the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS). Entry or Prep Curriculum (depending on their previous BLS and ACLS certification). - Within 3 months of hire into job

    Other Experience/Qualifications

    Required:
    • One year of Endoscopy, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nursing experience.
