The Beach House Restaurant at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is a vibrant, casual beachside dining destination featuring both open-air and indoor seating just steps from the Gulf. Position Summary
The Assistant Manager supports the Food & Beverage Manager in overseeing daily restaurant and bar operations while leading a high-energy service team. This hands-on leadership role focuses on delivering exceptional guest experiences, maintaining service standards, and ensuring efficient operations in a busy indoor and outdoor beachfront setting. The ideal candidate thrives on the floor, leads by example, and brings a positive, team-focused approach to hospitality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Support daily front-of-house and bar operations to ensure smooth, efficient service
- Maintain a strong floor presence during peak meal periods and events
- Supervise, coach, and support servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff
- Monitor guest satisfaction and resolve concerns quickly and professionally
- Assist with scheduling, shift coverage, and daily staffing needs
- Help lead pre-shift meetings and communicate service expectations
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and adherence to service standards
- Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing team training
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and beverage controls
- Monitor compliance with food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations
- Complete opening/closing manager duties and daily operational checklists
- Collaborate with culinary leadership to maintain service flow and quality
- Foster a positive and professional team culture aligned with Sandestin values
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or bar supervisory/lead experience required
- Resort or high-volume restaurant experience preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of POS systems, scheduling, and daily operational procedures
- Guest-focused mindset with a hands-on leadership style
- Must be able to work in the restaurant filling in as needed
- Dependable, professional, and adaptable
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Food Safety and Responsible Alcohol Service certifications required (or ability to obtain)
Work Environment
- Indoor dining and open-air beachfront restaurant operations
- Fast-paced, high-volume seasonal resort environment
- Frequent interaction with guests and team members
- Exposure to outdoor elements including heat, humidity, sun, and wind
- Active, on-the-floor leadership role with extended standing and walking
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods (8–10+ hours per shift)
- Move frequently between indoor and outdoor service areas
- Lift and carry items up to 40 lbs occasionally
- Bend, reach, twist, stoop, and kneel as needed during operations
- Maintain stamina during busy service periods
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as well as indoor
- Continuous use of hands and arms for operational tasks and equipment use
