****Job Summary****
Perform moving of various materials common to a University setting. To include but not limited to office furniture, laboratory equipment, laser tables, optic tables, appliances, construction materials, and shop equipment, supplies and parts. Assist in training employees, assign and check work as needed. Check job sites and determine safest and most effective method of moving equipment and material. Ensure loads are secured using come-along, straps, nets, cables, chains etc. Supervise loading and unloading to prevent shifting or damage to materials or equipment during transit. Communicate to crew chief and supervisor, number of people needed and any special equipment needed to complete jobs. Advise on progress of jobs, any changes or problems and serve as backup to crew chief in their absence. Operate heavy equipment according to verbal and hand signals from co-workers. Determine layout and draw plans to erect scaffolding staying within OSHA standards. Supervise and erect scaffolding in a timely manner. Inspect material/equipment for damage before and after move; inform appropriate personnel if damage has occurred.
**Required:**
High school diploma/GED
Three years' experience in material handling
Good verbal communication skills
Computer skills to be able to access employee personal data
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects of 50 to 80 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally
Ability to work from heights in excess of 100 feet
Steel toe safety shoes
Must have skill level and required learning to meet OSHAs competent person requirement in scaffold and shoring
A valid US or Canadian drivers license
**Preferred:**
Experience in operation of material moving equipment, including heavy equipment, such as fork truck, bobcat and various hoists
Forklift certification desired or ability to obtain
Minor equipment maintenance experience
Knowledge of campus buildings and locations
**Additional Information:**
All new hires will be expected to follow guidelines

Occassional overtime may be required
