Job Summary
The UCSF School of Medicine Admissions Office processes over 8000 applications each year. The Director of the Admissions office oversees the process of reviewing applications and interviewing applicants, manages the admissions committee, and coordinates the selection of a class of over 160 medical students each year. The Director also plays a central role in the continuing evaluation and improvement in all policies and procedures relating to admissions to the medical school. The Director will manage the recruitment and outreach efforts for the UCSF School of Medicine and will be a leader in the arena of medical school admissions by attending national meetings and
recruiting nationally at undergraduate institutions. In the context of these activities, the Director will contribute to scholarly research designed to evaluate current procedures and establish best practices for the Admissions office. Finally, the Director is expected to provide statistical data and reporting on UCSF School of Medicine applicants.
Manages a discrete admissions and / or recruitment function and / or program. Formulates policies and procedures for the admissions and / or recruitment function. Develops the long and short term organizational goals of the unit. Represents the program internally and externally. Manages the operating budget and human resources of the program.
