    Description

    The Radiation Therapy Extern safely and correctly operates equipment delivering ionizing radiation for the purpose of treating neoplastic diseases or for other therapeutic purposes under the direct supervision of a Radiation Therapy Technologist.


    Reports to:
    Lead Radiation Therapy Technologist, Radiation Therapy Technologist.

    Minimum Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.

    Minimum Work Experience:

    Must be knowledgeable of the operation methods and safety standards of all equipment producing ionizing radiation within the department.

    Must be able to handle radiation sources. Possess experience and capabilities as seemed sufficient by the Chief Therapist and Radiation Oncologist.

    Licensure/Certification:
    Must be certified by the American Register of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). Must be licensed by the state or eligible for licensure. BLS certification required. Must obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
