    General Laborer - Blue Island, IL

    Scrap Metal Services, L.L.C., a scrap metal recycling and processing company, is seeking a General Laborer for its Blue Island, location. This is currently a 1st shift operation with potential multiple shifts.

    Role and Responsibilities

    • Responsibilities may include but not limited to cleaning and preparing for a project, loading and delivering materials and using a variety of tools and machines, such as blowtorches, forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers and water spraying equipment. May be asked to set up and/or take down ladders, scaffolding and other temporary structure
    • Ability to remove electrical equipment, cables, wood and fibers of all kinds and properly dispose of material
    • Ability to properly drain and empty out equipment that may contain liquids
    • Ability to load and unload baskets, containers, boxes and/or trucks
    • Knowledge of and adherence to safety requirements in a scrap yard environment, including use of proper PPE
    • Perform any and all other duties as assigned

    Requirements

    • Must pass employee physical, background check and drug screen.

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to walk more than 1000 yards
    • stand for extended periods of time
    • ability to lift and carry no more than 50 lbs
    • climb stairs and/or ladders
    • stooping; crawling; reaching; handling
    • pushing; pulling; twisting; kneeling; squatting
    • seeing; speaking; hearing.
