JOB DESCRIPTION:
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Teacher
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Athletic Coordinator
The Middle School Campus Athletic Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing all duties specific to this position in addition to duties assigned by the Director of Athletics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Teacher
Instructional Strategies
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies and administrative regulations.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s).
Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
Student Growth and Development Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal teaching.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the principal.
Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
Classroom Management and Organization Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
Communication
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers
Other Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required
Athletic Coordinator Coordinate and administer the Campus Middle School Athletic Program in accordance with MISD athletic objectives and policy.
Manage campus athletic budget. All Middle School athletics purchases must be approved by and routed to the Athletic Coordinator.
Make all Middle School coaching assignments with approval of the Director/Assistant Director of Athletics.
Coordinate all campus level athletic schedules.
Maintain a complete and accurate middle school athletic equipment inventory.
Submit any and all necessary requests as per MISD Athletic Administration.
Monitor Middle School implementation of philosophies, schemes, strategies, techniques, skills, offenses and defenses as stressed by the Director of Athletics.
Manage any and all campus-based Booster Clubs.Coordinate and schedule all necessary event supervisors and game support staff for all campus-based athletic activities.
Interview candidates for campus athletic positions and make recommendations to the Director of Athletics.
Supervise and evaluate the performance of all campus-based programs and coaches.
Manage the campus athletic facilities through the Assistant Director of Athletics.
Monitor the campus character curriculum program.
Manage the strength and conditioning program for in season and out of season athletes.
Secure game officials for all Middle School contests.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on Evaluations
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,
ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Teacher One year student teaching or approved internship
Athletic Coordinator
Three years teaching/coaching experience
REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certification:
Teacher
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
Demonstrate competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Valid ESL Supplemental certificate required for all elementary content teachers, all Special Education teachers, and secondary ELAR teachers.
Valid ESL Supplemental certificate preferred, but not required, for all other secondary content area teachers.
Meets No Child Left Behind Highly Qualified Requirements
Willingness to obtain multiple certifications
