Shopping Experience & Site Merchandising Intern

Summary

The primary function of this position is to drive identification of competitive opportunities for Swanson Health Products related to the online shopping experiences. This position will support our Merchandising & Ecommerce teams and present a completed project at the close of the Internship. The goals of this Internship include deep dive into the on-stie shopping experience, surfacing opportunities, and building an assortment framework to support future site enhancements.

Essential Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth review of site shopping experience - reviewing end-to-end customer journey on and robust review of competitive landscape.
Identify bugs, highlight opportunities, and make recommendations for customer experience enhancements on site.
Build an understanding of Swanson's assortment mix and product pyramid.
Create an assortment framework of product attributes, positioning, and branding to support ongoing customer experience enhancements.
Support Merchandising & Ecommerce with various special projects and daily tasks.
Develop an understanding of Swanson's customers, website, teams, processes.
Gain exposure to key cross-functional partners & processes including Marketing, Purchasing, Planning, Pricing, Operations and Customer Service
Build collaboration, presentation & communication skills.
Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and cross-functional teams with a constant commitment to teamwork, customer service and professionalism.
Shop competitive health and wellness online stores to identify trending new products and experiences.
Evaluate the shopping experience on , Amazon and iHerb as well as international eCommerce sites to identify areas of opportunity related to online shopping transaction flows.
Survey Swanson teammates to identify areas of opportunity and test those hypotheses with online activity.
Browse, shop, purchase, and evaluate the Swanson online experience flow and physical aspects of the buying experience to identify improvements for leadership.
Present findings to executive leadership, helping to prioritize findings.
1. Provide solutions on how to rectify areas of consumer frustration and potential improvement will need to be vetted with technology, marketing, merchandising, operations, and external partners to provide a complexity score on the level of resources required to address identified issue.
Execute projects as assigned by the merchandising team throughout the internship.

Competencies Required

Keen interest in product, merchandising, e-commerce and customer insights
Strong analytical skills and basic foundation in retail math
Motivated, self-starter with a strong work ethic
Ability to collaborate with peers across multiple functions in a professional manner
Creative and curious; flexible and can demonstrate out-of-the-box thinking
Ability to write and verbally communicate clearly and concisely
Familiarity with MS Office Suite - Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Ability to write and verbally communicate concisely and with clarity
Proactive and driven, with ability to demonstrate self-directive work and ownership
Ability to collaborate with other departments and executive leadership in a professional manner
Must be deadline conscious with outstanding multitasking abilities
Solid understanding of online shopping experiences

Education and Experience

Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Communications, or similar field; prior focus working in an office setting desired but not required and/ or future interest in enrollment in an undergraduate course for Business, Merchandising, Buying, Marketing.
