    Role: Senior Power Trader - ERCOT

    Industry: Energy Storage / Energy Trading

    Location: Hybrid - Texas

    Salary: $150,000-$180,000

    This is an amazing opportunity for a Senior Trader to join a renewable energy trading company who primarily trade around BESS, Solar, and Wind to help reduce grid volatility. They have built an industry leading algorithmic optimization trading platform, focusing on energy storage and renewable assets globally. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience trading DA/RT within US power markets and experience building and maintaining models for trading across several ISOs.

    Responsibilities:

    • Leading the development of commercial models for grid-scale storage resources and making decisions based on them.
    • Carrying out the decision-making process for various client portfolios and ensuring clear communication with our team of real-time traders.
    • Devising strategies for managing portfolios containing energy storage, wind, and solar assets within ERCOT and other wholesale power markets, focusing on the impact of transmission congestion.
    • Assisting in the creation of new internal products by collaborating with Habitat's data scientists and software engineers to define performance metrics, market rules, and commercial strategies.
    • Communicating portfolio management strategies to clients and adapting internal tools to meet client risk parameters.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 2 years of experience trading virtual and/or asset-backed positions in a major US Power Market, preferably ERCOT.
    • Experience in building and maintaining models for trading and/or risk management in power markets, particularly with point-to-points, FTRs/CRRs, or similar congestion-related products.
    • Proficiency in Excel & Python, with the ability to handle large datasets.
    • Demonstrated enthusiasm for trading and knowledge of the US Power markets.
    • Strong grasp of finance, mathematics, and statistics.
    • Attention to detail and ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
    • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

    Desirable qualifications and experience:

    • Experience in managing energy storage resources.
    • Experience in structuring products related to carbon offset, long-term financing of renewables, or energy storage assets.
    • Familiarity with Financial Derivatives, Options Greeks, Market Making & Market Microstructure.
