    Position Summary: Handle food preparation to ensure residents receive adequate nutrition and a variety of meals.

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Prepare meals daily according to the weekly menu plan.
    • Adjust recipes as needed to cater to residents' dietary requirements or enhance the taste, focusing on low sodium content.
    • Present food attractively on plates before serving.
    • Control portions to meet budget constraints.
    • Identify required food and supplies for the upcoming week's menus and inform the supervisor.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen area.
    • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and labeling for infection control purposes.
    • Prep meats for storage and portion control upon delivery, and correctly store all food items.
    • Help with serving food and ensure proper coordination.
    • Report any equipment malfunction to the manager.
    • Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth facility operations.
    • Alert the Executive Director or supervisor about any resident well-being concerns.
    • Encourage residents to engage in food service activities.
    • Participate in scheduled staff and training meetings.
    • Report work-related injuries to the supervisor on the same day they occur.
    • Maintain confidentiality of resident and operational information.
    • Perform any other assigned duties.

    Education, Experience, and Other Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Experience in commercial or group cooking preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

    • Adherence to kitchen equipment safety measures.
    • Supportive of teamwork in resident service delivery.
    • Familiarity with food-handling and kitchen regulations.
    • Ability to operate kitchen appliances and office equipment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Training certificate in food preparation desirable.
    • Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
    • Keenness to learn and assist others.
    • Enjoyment of working with older individuals.
