- Diagnostic Services: Accurately diagnose issues with small engines and related equipment. This includes troubleshooting problems with lawn mowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, and other powered garden tools.
- Repair and Maintenance: Perform repairs and routine maintenance on small engines and equipment. Tasks may include engine rebuilds, carburetor adjustments, belt replacements, and oil changes.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with customers about needed repairs, maintenance advice, and operating instructions for their equipment.
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing the parts inventory by identifying needed parts for repairs and maintaining an organized work area.
- Technical Support: Offer technical advice and support to both customers and team members, including recommendations on the proper care and maintenance of equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all team members and customers. This includes the proper handling of tools and machinery and adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with new technologies and repair techniques for small engines through ongoing training and self-directed learning.
- Experience: Proven experience as a small engine mechanic. Experience working with brands such as Stihl, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, and Honda is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of small engine operations and the ability to use diagnostic equipment.
- Certifications: Certifications from recognized organizations (e.g., EETC) are a plus.
- Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical information in an understandable manner.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and fix equipment efficiently.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with small engine repair.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in small engine repair is preferred.
- This role requires working in a shop environment and may involve exposure to noise, dust, and outdoor weather conditions. The position may require standing for extended periods and performing tasks that involve bending, lifting, and manual dexterity.
