    Software Integration Engineer

Seeking a contract Software Integration engineer for support of the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR). This position is a long-term contract that require the candidates to be onsite. Ideal candidates will need to be able to obtain a federal security clearance.
    Background

Operating at 85 MW, High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) is the highest flux reactor-based source of neutrons for research in the United States, and it provides one of the highest steady-state neutron fluxes of any research reactor in the world.

The thermal and cold neutrons produced by HFIR are used to study physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, and biology. The Research Reactors Division (RRD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) operates the HFIR.
    Scope

HFIR is slated for an extended 6-month Cold Source plant maintenance outage in 2024 to replace key cryogenic helium refrigeration system components and to integrate the new components into the existing Cold Source system.

The outage preparation activities will take several years with additional staff augmentation.

In addition to the cold source plant, the scope of work will include tasks associated with the reactor and experiment control systems.

The augmented staff will be matrixed to HFIR Nuclear Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Group of the Systems Engineering Section within the RRD.

This group also provides technical support to operations, and maintenance, and performs systems analysis.

This position will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the division's software-based Industrial Control Systems (ICS) throughout the entire system development life cycle, including configuration control, software quality assurance, and cyber security.

Additionally, one will ensure conformance to software requirements through effective software quality assurance activities, providing the basis for planning, implementing, maintaining, and operating the software being developed as well as ensure appropriate operational security posture is maintained for all ICS on matters involving cyber security.
