    Position description



    The Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in the School of Biological Sciences is currently accepting applications in the area of the cellular, temporal and spatial dynamics of amyloid deposition and pathogenesis in transgenic models of Alzheimer's disease. The person in the position will perform experiments with transgenic mice under the direction of Dr. Charles Glabe.

    This NIH-funded project uses cell population-specific labeling of proteome to study the contributions of different populations of neurons and glia to amyloid deposition and the temporal and spatial mechanisms of plaque deposition and maturation. This person also will work on the contributions of glia to amyloid deposition. Renewal of the appointment will be contingent on the availability of adequate funding and performance.

    Candidate will be engaged in a program of advanced academic preparation and research training under the guidance of a faculty mentor/s, for a career typically outside the institution.

    Requirements:

    * Ph.D. in neuroscience, cell biology, biochemistry or synthetic biology and an interest in Alzheimer's disease.

    * Super resolution fluorescence imaging and analysis and experience working with transgenic mice preferred.

    * Experience in synthetic biology and proteomics is desirable.
