    Position Summary

    Empirical Bioscience, a division of Fortis Life Sciences is in Grand Rapids, Michigan.     The Shipper/Receiver Clerk position will be responsible for handling the shipping and receiving activities within our company, ensuring the timely and accurate movement of materials and products.

    What You Will Do
    • Prepare shipments for outgoing orders, including picking, packing, and labeling of products.
    • Work closely with the Supply chain specialist, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.
    • Coordinate with carriers to schedule pick-ups and deliveries.
    • Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and documentation requirements.
    • Generate shipping labels and maintain accurate shipping records.
    • Receive incoming shipments of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
    • Inspect deliveries for accuracy, completeness, and quality.
    • Verify quantities and check for any damages or discrepancies.
    • Document receipt of materials in the inventory management system.
    • Maintain organized and efficient storage of materials and products in the warehouse.
    • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
    • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to relevant departments.
    • Assist in quality control inspections of incoming materials and finished products.
    • Report any quality issues or deviations to appropriate personnel.
    • Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for handling hazardous materials.
    • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of warehouse and shipping/receiving areas.
    • Follow all relevant regulations and procedures for handling, storing, and shipping materials.
    • Other shipping/ receiving-related tasks (as required)

    Required Education and Experience
    • High School Diploma, a college degree in a logistics discipline or equivalent with 1-2 years of relevant industry experience.
    • 6 months of logistics, retail, or customer service experience
    • Experience with the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) programs (good to have)
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word required.
    • Demonstrated organizational abilities and proven attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
