    Description


    JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Primary responsibility for performing quality echocardiograms, assisting as necessary with EKG's, applying Holter monitors, preparing and assisting with Exercise Stress Tests, Pharmacologic Stress Testing, Peripheral vascular tests and other diagnostic tests as necessary.

    Communicates continuously with physician about patient condition. Operates all equipment safely and correctly. Assists coworkers in maintenance of necessary PAR levels.

    Works with the department director in orientation of new employees, input for employee evaluations, development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the department.

    Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities, assists with maintaining necessary quality reports. Understands and adheres to safety policies and procedures when working in radiation-controlled areas. Is reliable when on call to answer and be available in hospital within 30 minutes. Communicates respectfully and effectively with clinic and hospital staff. Must be flexible with hours and days off, to accommodate for call needs. Weekend rotation, 10-hour shifts, and holiday coverage may be required.
    KNOWLEDGE/


    EXPERIENCE:
    1-3 years' experience performing echocardiograms and stress testing preferred.


    EDUCATION:
    High School diploma or GED preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular technologies and/or 1-3 years' experience preferred.
    LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/


    REGISTRY:
    Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer within 6 months of employment. Current BCLS required.

    Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers.

    Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments.
