    We are seeking an Assistant Director that will report directly to the Executive Director of the Child Development Center. The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Executive Director with administrative tasks and the supervision of staff and children. This position will be responsible for record keeping, family communication, budgeting, ordering, advising and training volunteers and student interns. In addition, the Assistant Director will serve as the key person in charge of the afternoon wrap around program.

    Examples of Duties:

    • Responsible for development, facilitation and oversight of parent involvement activities, monthly workshops, and on-going groups.
    • Serve as liaison/contact person for parents with questions or concerns and address issues as necessary.
    • Assist the Executive Director in monitoring and tracking of agency budget.
    • Organize, enter and track agency Purchase Requisitions.
    • Assist in completing quarterly fiscal monitoring reports for the Paterson Board of Education.
    • Supervise and advise Human Services, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work and CDA students from local colleges.
    • Assume leadership role when Executive Director is unavailable; utilizing leadership skills in handling student, parental and faculty complications.
    • Assist in implementation of NAEYC Accreditation and Grow NJ Kids.
    • Oversee the afternoon wrap around program (after-care).
    • Conduct observations of staff and students in classrooms and on playground.
    • Assist in conducting professional development.
    • Update Family and Staff Handbooks.
    • Work with Family Workers and Nurse to plan for center activities and parent involvement.
    • Additional duties as necessary or assigned by the Executive Director.

    Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (any field of Education or Family Studies) required; Master's Degree preferred
    • At least 2 years' experience working with children and parents in group settings
