    Job Description

    Surgical Technician - Certified

    Responsibilities:

    • Inspects equipment for proper working condition
    • Follows principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating/procedure room procedure
    • Adheres to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages and preparing for the procedure
    • Arranges instruments according to given procedure
    • Confirms that instruments work properly
    • Maintains and updates instrument cards and surgeons' preference cards
    • Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician

    Acts as a specialty resources person to nursing colleagues, student nurses and new employees:

    • Provides support to staff in use of new/specialty items.
    • Collects evaluation forms from staff and surgeons on new products.
    • Assists in precepting new and novice employees.
    • Completes validation tools with preceptor and provides progress check.
