    Job Description

    Install piping systems and equipment per plan and spec's. Project is "Replace Chiller Plant" at Birmingham VA Medical Center.

    General Laborers (Experience Preferred)

    High school graduate or equivalent. All must pass a drug test and be able to lift 75 pounds.

    DOL Wage rates (Davis Bacon) are: Laborer rates are based on experience ($15 rate and 3.88 fringe) to $20 hr.

    Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, small mechanical hoists, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris and other waste materials. May assist other craft workers.

    NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO SHOW UP FOR WORK MONDAY-THURSDAY 6:00-4:30.

    Tasks

    • Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
    • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
    • Provide assistance to craft workers, such as plumbers, pipefitters, or welders.
