    Description

    Position: Maintenance Technician

    Summary

    • Accountable for the general maintenance and repair of equipment, tools, and machinery as designated by the Maintenance Supervisor or Head Mechanic

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Set up, adjust, and repair production equipment, heavy trucks, and special purpose machines as directed
    • Utilize a variety of hand and power tools to conduct repairs, grease, weld, cut, change parts, and complete assigned tasks
    • Perform general repairs to plant structures
    • Ensure work area is clean and organized
    • Diagnose malfunctioning machinery, identify repairs, and consult with Head Mechanic for approval and necessary repairs
    • Replace faulty parts, electrical wires, motors, controls, and circuit boards
    • Install equipment and electrical components, and test to verify proper functionality
    • Dismantle equipment to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
    • Replace and install parts as required
    • Lubricate and clean parts and equipment to guarantee proper operation
    • Other duties and responsibilities related to the job may be assigned as needed

    Requirements / Education / Experience

    • High school diploma/equivalent, or equivalent training, education, or experience
    • Technical or vocational school certification or equivalent training or experience
    • Ability to read and interpret instructions and operations manuals, and follow step-by-step instructions
    • Mechanical aptitude and ability are crucial
    • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools
    • Knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, carpentry, or related field is preferred

    Physical Requirements

    • Lift tools, machinery parts, and other items weighing up to 80lbs each, with assistance available if necessary
    • Endure intermittent bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching
    • Stand for extended periods
    • Capable of working in extreme conditions like hot or cold temperatures, noise, dust, and dirt
