    The Apprentice General Mechanic will be responsible for learning aspects of various Trade Groups while ensuring that all work is completed and of superior craftsmanship.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Works with mechanics in assigned trade group to learn the following:

    o Hotel Maintenance Trade Group: perform preventative, routine and emergency service of building's electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems

    o HVAC Trade Group: perform repair, maintenance, and installation all air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems throughout the complex. Repair and maintenance of air handlers, exhaust and supply fans, and their appurtenant equipment

    o Electrical Trade Group: perform preventative, routine, and emergency service on building's electrical systems

    o Kitchen Maintenance Trade Group: perform maintenance, repairs and installation of kitchen equipment throughout the facility

    o Plumbing Trade Group: perform repair, maintenance and installation of domestic water distribution systems, steam distribution systems, sanitary sewerage systems, irrigation systems, fire suppression systems and their appurtenant equipment throughout the complex

    • Removes debris caused by work completed
    • Maintains proper care and storage of tools and equipment
    • Works closely with Lead to coordinate an efficient and safe work environment
    • Performs other related general maintenance duties as assigned
    • Maintains confidentiality of all Ocean Casino Resort proprietary information

    Essential Functions

    • High degrees of mobility to enable person to respond to any type of emergency or service call and ability to effectively communicate by way of 2-way radio or pager system
    • Physical ability and skill to use normal tools and equipment associated with the trade
    • Exposure to casino related environmental factors, including but not limited to, secondhand smoke, excessive noise and stress related to servicing customers in a fast-paced environment
    • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and flexible shifts/hours
    • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds

    Requirements

    • Required to attend union sponsored and approved training classes in each trade group
    • Must successfully complete training and work requirements of union apprentice program
    • Must demonstrate good verbal and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to effectively communicate in English
