    Job Summary

    We are seeking a visionary and experienced educational leader to serve as our Chief Academic Officer with strong instructional pedagogy and a particular emphasis on foundational literacy and reading interventions. As a Cabinet-level position, the successful candidate will be responsible for crafting and executing a comprehensive academic strategy, integrating cultural responsiveness through a multi-tiered system of supports to meet the academic and behavioral needs of diverse learners. Demonstrated expertise in establishing effective data-driven professional learning communities and implementing cycles of inquiry and continuous improvement is essential. The Chief Academic Officer will spearhead teams that implement academic and behavioral interventions across all grade levels, from preschool through Grade 8, necessitating a deep understanding of both elementary and middle school programs. Knowledge of early learning education is also pivotal to support our expanding preschool population. Additionally, oversight of signature programs such as Reading and Writing Workshop, Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI), Speech and Debate, Visual and Performing Arts, STEAM, and International Baccalaureate will be under the purview of this role. The ideal candidate will possess experience or a deep understanding of the Cotsen Foundation's approaches and their impact on elementary education, complementing our district's academic journey at all five elementary sites. The Chief Academic Officer will also play a pivotal role in enhancing middle school education, ensuring the development and implementation of rigorous academic programs and career technical education (CTE) pathways that build upon the foundations established in our elementary schools, while addressing the unique educational needs of our middle school students. We seek a dynamic leader who can drive educational excellence and equity while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within our district.

    Requirements / Qualifications

    Under the direction of the Superintendent, to plan, organize, staff, direct and lead the Multi-Tiered Support Services under the Local Control Accountability Plan which includes all instructional program units, including Educational Programs, Special Education, and Health Services; to plan, organize, coordinate, and control the instructional program design and delivery systems; to plan, organize, design, and implement curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs and activities, including staff development, to ensure comprehensive educational opportunities and growth experiences are available to students; to plan, organize, and direct research and development processes including educational program product and service audit and evaluation processes; to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of regulations, and the strategies for achieving district goals and objectives; and to do other related functions as directed. Serves as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet.
