    This strategic work requires streamlining and repurposing technology across different business and distribution channels including streaming, linear, and theatrical so that technology can ebb and flow across the needs of the business.

    The Media Status engineering team offers observability services for the media processing pipeline and builds out the scalable distributed systems for processing media that is core to our products.

    In order to orchestrate media (movies, episodes, events, etc.) from the studios onto the streaming platforms, media needs to undergo a substantial amount of processing.

    This processing ecosystem is complex and constantly evolving.

    Media Status sits atop that ecosystem, integrating with all its sub-systems and solving for status, data aggregation, search, and scale.

    The team abstracts complexities for consumers through our services, so the media processing pipeline can be more easily monitored and managed.

    ResponsibilitiesDirect the software engineering team to craft, build and deliver media inventory management systems and scalable APIs that interact with operational tooling for Disney+, Hulu, Star+, ESPN+ VOD assets.

    Build collaboratively with the teams you advise and neighboring engineering teams.
    Work with project partners to define scope and objectives, communicating requirements to development teams.
    Identify, analyze, prioritize, mitigate, and communicate project risks to internal and external customers.
    Lead technical feasibility, implementation approach, deployment strategies, and QA efforts.
    Continue to improve project management processes, communication protocols, and operational procedures related to effective, timely and on-budget software delivery.
    Recruit and hire skilled software engineers.

    Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field), or equivalent training or work experience8+ years of technical experience with at least 2+ years of technical and engineering leadership experienceExpert level understanding of software development and architecture.

    Proven experience building distributed software services and running multiple concurrent projects of high technical complexity.
    Successful leadership of software engineering teams to deliver high throughput processing systems.
    Practical and collaborative, with a succinct communication style.
    Ability to work in a multifaceted environment where services are available 24x7 and on-call incidents may occur.

    Experience leading teams that build RESTful services Scala or Java; understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS.Self-learner, independent, excellent problem-solving skills.#DISNEYTECHThe hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $172,282 to $231,110 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $164,492 to $220,660; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $180,154 to $241,670 per year.

    The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidates geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

    A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
