    Main Purpose of Job

    The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of warehouse duties in order to supply and equip the Maryland Department of State Police and its political subdivision with the appropriate supplies and equipment that are necessary to accomplish its mission.


    POSITION DUTIES
    Fill requisition orders received from the barracks, divisions, and installations to meet their request for supplies, equipment and materials.

    This includes comparing packing slips with purchase orders, utilizing space for storage, and reviewing requisitions for accuracy.\r\r\rReceive goods and develops storage methods, including the allocating and arrangement of the storage facility.\r\r\rConduct routine inventory on all stock commodities and reconcile discrepancies.\r\r\rAssist outside agencies by issuing warehouse stock and forms.\r\r\rAssist with loading and unloading supplies into and out of delivery vehicles.

    When necessary, use MSP vehicles to make deliveries.\r\r\rMake necessary transfers and adjustments in the Financial Management Information System (FMIS).\r\r\rAssists in the requisition of stock commodity inventory replacement.\r\r\rAnalyzes both supply and distribution operations and makes recommendations for increased efficiency.\r\r\rAssist in maintenance of records of inventory control, supply issuance, and all other QMD related items.\r\r\rSupervises temporary and contractor warehouse employees.

    Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training new hires.\r\r\rOther duties as assigned by Supervisory/Command personnel.\r

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:
    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate

    \rExperience:

    Four years of experience in receiving, storing and issuing supplies, materials or equipment in a storeroom, warehouse or other supply storage facility

    \rNotes:

    \r1. Candidates may substitute additional experience as described aboveon a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education. \r2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in logistics specialist classifications or administrative support specialty codes in the logistics or unit supply field of work, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r

    DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Preferred Qualifications:
    \r\r\r1. Experience in receiving and processing requisitions for the distribution of supplies.\r\r\r2. Experience in the development of storage methods pertaining to the allocation and arrangement of materials and supplies.\r
    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
    Employeesin this classification may be assigned duties which\rrequire the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will\rbe required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of\rMaryland.\r

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    In accordance with\rSection b) (6) of the Public Safety Article, candidates for positions in\rthis classification will be subject to an initial drug screening, a physical\rexamination and a complete criminal background investigation, before permanent appointment can be made.

    A criminal\rconviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.\r

    SELECTION PROCESS
    Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will\rbe considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you\rprovide complete and accurate information on your application.

    Successful\rcandidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED,\rBETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at\rleast one year from the date of examination.

    The list will be used by the\rhiring manager to select employees. The list will be valid for one year.\r

    EXAMINATION PROCESS

    The examination will consist of a rating of your\reducation, training and experience related to the requirements of the position.\rYou may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may\rbe based on your application.

    Report all experience and education that is\rrelated to this position. \r

    BENEFITS

    Contractual\remployeeswho work for an agency covered under the State Employees\rand Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current\remployment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours\rper month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for\rthemselves and their dependents.

    As a contractual employee, you will be\rresponsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription\rcoverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled.

    The State of\rMaryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.

    You\rcan also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment\rinsurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium\rfor these benefits.
