- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care and make recommendations on medical treatment and return to work efforts.
- Collaborate with claims examiners to develop medical management and return to work plans by contacting providers, injured workers, and employers.
- Review, and research as necessary, requests for medical procedures to ensure services are of the highest quality, cost-efficient and in compliance with current regulations.
- Document all contacts and outcomes related to case activity.
- Provide support to the Cost Control Unit with billing questions and appropriate durable medical equipment usage.
- Serve as liaison with health care providers to support efforts of claims examiners.
- Licensed as a professional nurse (RN) in Idaho required. Compact nursing license desired; or must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire, at SIF's e.xpense.
- Nationally accredited Case Management certification highly desired; Or must be able to obtain within 2 years of hire, at SIF's expense.
- Minimum one year experience in a related nursing field; occupational health nursing and/or prior case management experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of multi-disciplinary treatment team approach to medical care and community resources available to workers' compensation clients.
- Experience observing and evaluating complications of medical rehabilitation.
- Prior insurance and/or workers' compensation industry experience preferred.
- Proficient use of desktop applications, e.g., Microsoft Office products, to generate emails, forms/letters, reports, and presentations, as well as search and download information from the internet.
- Ability to use critical thinking skills to make independent decisions affecting injured workers and policyholders, as well as SIF.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a high level of organizational skill.
- Ability to travel up to 40% locally and statewide to meet with injured workers, policyholders, and providers. This occasionally may include travel to neighboring states as necessary. This may include visits to employer worksites, medical facilities, and injured workers' personal homes.

Residency in Idaho is required for this role. This position will help cover the entire state of Idaho and will require travel to northern and eastern Idaho, as well as neighboring states, as needed, to visit our stakeholders. Working from our downtown Boise office at least twice a week (Tues/Thurs) when in town will be required. Annual salary starts at $74,000.
