    What we do:
    The Sr.

    Materials & Process Engineer applies their technical knowledge and expertise broadly to support electrical systems, components, and EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems) across all Supernal systems (electric motors, high voltage system, energy storage system, avionics, communication & control systems).

    This role works toward developing & implementing conventional and novel materials and process solutions as needed and work with our partners to ensure delivered hardware meets requirements & leads to the certification & production of new AAM vehicles and other advanced mobility solutions.

    What you can do:
    Contribute to building requirements & standard methodologies for electronic systems, components, & EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems) and against all powertrain, avionics, energy storage, and flight controls related hardware & systems across the vehicle as they relate to M&PLead all aspects of evaluation and selection of materials to satisfy design requirements focusing on polymers, adhesives, thermal interface materials, ceramics, metallics and insulation materials pertaining to electrical systemsBuild internal material specifications and develop process specifications that support manufacturing & ensure qualityLead & coordinate testing for method development, materials characterization, allowable generation, design validation, & hardware certificationLead flammability & fire testing for electronic systems as requiredServe as the M&P representative (Signatory Authority) during design reviews & in the production drawing release cycle for EWIS and electronic systems components and assembliesAssist with supplier selection, development, qualifications, and ongoing evaluations and improvementsBuild procedures for reviewing supplier delivered (source controlled) hardware for compliance with requirementsDedication to awareness of technology developments across academia and industry as well as regulatory trends through participation in industry working groups, standards bodies, and relevant technical conferences and symposiaMay require up to 25% of domestic and international travelOther duties as assignedWhat you can contribute:Bachelor's degree in a STEM or related field requiredMinimum of five (5) years of related experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)

    Experience in material selection and generation of qualification test plansTechnical superiority in one or more of these areas:

    EWIS, electrical components, avionics equipment, high voltage system materials, adhesives, polymers, or elastomersFamiliarity with a "First principles" approach to problem solvingKnowledge of 3D CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, or similarProficiency in crafting test plans, coordinating & implementing test campaigns, and generating test reportsOperational knowledge of materials characterization lab equipmentFamiliarity with statistical software, including Minitab, JMP, or similarKnowledge of SAE, ASTM, MIL, ISO, IPC and other standard bodiesKnowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, & DOE principalsDeep understanding of process mapping, SPC, PFMEA, DFMEA and similar tools and techniquesDedicated understanding of EWIS and electronic systems for radar, communication systems, actuation, flight controls, powertrain, high-power electronics for vehicle electrification, battery charger applications, electrical grounding, & insulation materials used in aerospace and relevant fabrication techniques across multiple areasExpertise in supplier auditing and managementAbility to create and develop material and process maturation roadmaps to enable future product development in close cooperation with designers and manufacturing partnersKnowledge of FAA flammability and fire testing requirementsKnowledge of DO-160 requirements & compliance/conformance testingProficiency with MS Office Suite tools such as Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, & VisioProactive and efficient delivery of communication and follow-upExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to independently prioritize and accomplish work in a timely mannerYou may also be able to contribute:Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferredAny offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check.
