- Assist plumbers by performing tasks under the direct supervision of the designated Plumber/Foreman.
- Fulfill and comply with all requirements as described in the Christman Handbook.
- Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care and use of tools and equipment.
- Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Policy & Handbook.
- Cut and install pipe hangers.
- Hang pipe and assist in the setting of equipment.
- Cut, solder and thread pipe as required using pipe cutter, acetylene torch and pipe threading equipment.
- Dig trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment.
- Assist the supervisor to track material usage and material that needs to be ordered.
- Must be responsible for the upkeep and possession of power tools issued from the warehouse.
- Properly plan and execute specific work as directed.
- Keep all material, tools and equipment in an orderly fashion and maintain a clean work area.
- Identify safety hazards that you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Perform other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.
- Complete all required and assigned training for this role.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Registration with Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners for a Plumbing Apprentice License must be completed on 1st day of employment if not already licensed.
- Work requires manual dexterity to use plumbing and power tools.
- Have personal hand tools and tool belt/pouch within the first 3 months of employment (refer to the mandatory tool list provided during onboarding)
- Maintain current driver's license and reliable transportation.
- The ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
- Have the ability to take measurements and make calculations.
- Ability to work well with supervision and peers.
- Ability to problem solve when errors occur.
- Must be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Job DescriptionPosition Summary
This Plumbing Apprentice will be working under the direct supervision of a licensed Journeyman Plumber/Foreman. This position will help in the installations, alterations, additions and / or repair of Plumbing systems. These systems may consist of pipes, fittings and fixtures for heating, water, steam and drainage systems. Full time employees should complete 2,000 hours of on-the-job training each year of apprenticeship.

Work Environment
The work is completed outside at the construction site, renovating occupied facilities such as hospitals, labs, nursing homes, etc. Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. The position is often exposed to sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment. The job requires they wear protective equipment when on the construction site (hardhats and safety glasses). Temperatures and conditions may vary depending on the weather and seasons.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and able to talk and hear other employee talking. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Expected Hours of Work
Full time position. Extended hours and weekends may apply.
Travel
Travel to and from the construction site is required. Long distance travel may be required which may include overnight stays depending on the project.
