    Description
    $15,000.00 SIGN ON BONUS

    Examines patients with breathing-related conditions and conductsiagnostic testing. Consults with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient. Performs physiotherapy and other treatments and teaches patients to use medications.

    Reports to:
    Director Respiratory Care & Neurodiagnostic Services
    Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer. Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices. Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment. Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources. Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders. Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment. Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.

    Minimum Education
    Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy - Required

    Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy - Preferred
    Required Skills
    Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer skills required.

    Certifications:
    BLS, certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required upon hire.
    ACLS and PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required within 1 year of employment.
    NRP certification from approved American Heart Association training center is required within 1 year of employment.
    Required Skills

    Licenses:
    Licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Respiratory Care Practitioner with ABG endorsement.

    Temporary initial licensure letter by the State of Tennessee as a graduate respiratory care practitioner, acceptable until state licensure is issued.


    Minimum Work Experience
    Minimum of 6 months Respiratory Care experience preferred
