    Summary/objective


    The Aquatics Director is responsible for the development, operations, and supervision of all aspects of the aquatics program at the Cross Gates Family Fitness(CGFF), including developing, organizing, and operating high-quality aquatic experiences that are safe, fun, and enjoyable for members and program participants.

    Responsibilities also include building a collaborative team to create a highly functional, productive, and positive team of aquatics professionals. The Aquatics Director is an integral part of the Membership Experience team, including the Membership, Fitness, and Sports departments.

    Essential Functions

    Provide strong leadership with excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities
    Responsible for the hiring and training of team members
    Develop and manage a staff schedule (instructors and lifeguards) to run swim lessons and other aquatics programs; including collaboration with other departments to support all the agency's programming
    Monitor team member productivity, provide constructive feedback and coaching
    Create and foster a team culture that is centered on achieving goals with a high level of customer service
    Conduct periodic and annual team performance evaluations
    Keep team and members informed of events and activities and encourage participation
    Support and handle member issues; make decisions in consideration of the club's policies and procedures
    Create and support special events to promote the department and club
    Ensure team members are properly certified
    Maintain aquatic center equipment and facility in safe, working, and clean condition
    Purchase and maintain supplies for successful facility operation
    Perform regular evaluation of aquatic policies and update as needed
    Embraces new approaches and discovers ideas to create a better member experience


    Aquatics Program Development:
    Develop and implement a comprehensive year-round aquatics program including group lessons, private lessons, summer camp, and special events in coordination with agency priorities and needs
    Develop and manage the aquatics program annual budget for the Cross Gates Family Fitness within approved budget guidelines, in consultation with the supervisor and VPO meeting annual revenue goals
    Communicate with external partners regarding rental contracts and usage

    The Aquatics Director will also provide leadership, instruction, and motivation for aquatics staff by policies and procedures, as well as provide swim instruction and lifeguarding as necessary
    Prepare and oversee the timely and accurate submission of payroll
    Evaluate aquatic programs and make changes as needed
    Regularly monitor the financial performance of aquatic programs and assess whether programs meet goals; make necessary changes to accommodate aquatic program needs
    Collaborate with department managers to troubleshoot club-related issues and ensure an overall high level of success for the club
    Operate within budget guidelines for the purchasing supplies, operational costs, pricing outside vendors and contractors
    Ability to conduct training in lifeguarding, WSI, CPR/AED, and first aid to agency staff as well as community participants, a plus

    Physical Demands
    Must be able to stand, walk, sit, lift, stretch, reach and bend throughout a shift
    Ability to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
    Must be able to pass lifeguard certification requirements at all times successfully
    Must be able to perform rescue skills during in-service training successfully
    Ability to successfully demonstrate proper swimming techniques and use of swim equipment
    Must be able to work in an often warm and humid environment with heightened noise

    Income:
    $40,000-70,000 per year based on experience and performance.
