    The Department of Management, Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is seeking an

    Information Technology Specialist 5, Database Administrator

    to join our team


    This position will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the high availability of the Health and Human Service Enterprise Datawarehouse and Data Lake that exists on premise and in the cloud.

    In this position you will work with an Azure/SQL server database and administrator positions leading the company database environment.

    Duties include but not limited to:
    Monitor, maintain, administer, and ensure high availability of the HHS Enterprise Datawarehouse and Data Lake that exists on premise and in the cloud
    Collaborate with cross functional teams, automate manual database administration tasks which includes but not limited to migrations, backup, restores, access management
    Ensure that the servers and services are operating correctly, coordinate problem resolution with regards to connectivity and permissions
    Maintain proficiency in the current software and hardware that is utilized and future operating systems, applications, development, and monitoring software while evaluating the structured query languages (SQLs) written by data analysts
    Assist migration tasks, tasks that support data integration teams and data reporting teams
    Review and set standards for the database performance, tuning and development
    Evaluate and advise leadership on best practices and standards in administering databases and related processes


    Preference will be given to candidates who are certified in Microsoft SQL server database administration with awareness of Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.

    Background check requirements:

    419 PC/LAN Server:
    6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in the following

    Generating, testing and maintaining LAN/server system software
    Installing and maintaining PC hardware and software
    Creating data sets using a variety of software packages
    Combining and converting data sets from different formats and sources to be used in spreadsheets, databases, and graphics software packages
    Producing final data summaries and reports using standard statistical procedures
    Producing final tables and graphics using various software packages

    OR

    421 Acquisition DBA (Database Administration):

    6 months experience, 12 semester hours or a combination of both where the applicant must have experience acting in an acquisition DBA role extracting data from source systems and moving extracted data into a relational database.

    The sum of all DBA-related activities should, as a minimum, have included:

    Working with mainframe dataset structures.

    Designed and either created or assisted in the creation of extract programming generating data for import into a relational database environment.

    Designed, constructed, maintained, and operated a scheduled set of robust data import scripts, processes, and procedures that included automated error-handling processes and quality assurance functionality.

    Physical database construction and maintenance of normalized, denormalized, or dimensional databases used in data warehouse staging environment.
    Translate business rules into technical specifications
    Provides direction to System Administrator(s) and System DBA(s) related to performance management of database.
    Assist in the design and development of Data Mart databases supporting end-user requirements.
    Assist in data mart level database performance testing including concurrent-user performance testing and analysis.
    Assist in database table indexing including design and maintenance.
    Assist in database data space partitioning.
    Experience designing, constructing, executing, monitoring, and maintaining complex Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages in an automated environment
    Experience using SQL Agent to automate and schedule SQL Server jobs and processes.

    Experience developing, using and maintaining stored procedures that are used in support of database activity automation and/or by web-based applications.

    Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:1)

    Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, and experience equal to three years of full-time work in:
    operating a multi-job computer;


    installing, operating, and coordinating computer-based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks, and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; designing/administering websites; or executing technology projects (e.g., systems analysis, requirements, design, development, and testing).


    2) All of the following (a and b):
    a.

    Three years of full-time work experience in: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating, and coordinating computer-based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks, and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; designing/administering websites; or executing technology projects (e.g.

    , systems analysis, requirements, design, development, and testing); and
    b.

    A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.


    3) All of the following (a and b):
    a.

    Three years of full-time work experience in: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating, and coordinating computer-based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks, and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; designing/administering websites; or executing technology projects (e.g.

    , systems analysis, requirements, design, development, and testing); and
    b.

    Certification by an authorized educational institution/major computer or software producer in an area directly related to one of the computer specialty fields described in part a.


    4) All of the following (a and b):
    a.

    Three years of full-time work experience in: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating, and coordinating computer-based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks, and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; designing/administering websites; or executing technology projects (e.g.

    , systems analysis, requirements, design, development, and testing); and
    b. Eighteen semester hours of accredited post-high-school coursework in one of the specialty fields described in part a.

    5) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of fulltime work as an Information Technology Specialist 4.
