    Job Description:

    · The Senior Naval Architect (E4) will support the development of the US Navy Watercraft program in support of Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division Detachment Norfolk, Combatant Craft Division (NSWCCDDN), Code 83.

    · The Senior Naval Architect (E4) will support the early-stage definition and analysis of systems related to watercrafts.

    It is desired that the candidate's experience supports the following tasks:

    · The candidate shall perform/support watercraft hull design, including but not limited to the consideration and analysis of hydromechanics, stability, powering and resistance, survivability, mass properties, materials and fabrication, arrangements, coating systems, weight analysis, speed analysis, loading, docking, hoisting, launch and recovery, stowage, and structures.

    · The candidate shall perform and support analysis, calculations, and verification of designs for hull systems such as:

    · Anchoring, Docking, Dynamic Positioning, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Foils and Appendages, Hoisting, Hydrostatic

    · Inclining, Loads, Material Selection (wood, composites, metals).

    · Mooring

    · Motion Analysis

    · Propeller Sizing

    · Resistance Predictions

    · Rudder Sizing

    · Speed-Power, Stability Analysis (dynamic, transitional, maneuvering, directional, intact and damage)

    · Stress Analysis, Structural Vibration

    · Structure sizing Analysis

    · Survivability

    · Trim and List

    · Wave Loading, Weight, Wind Loading.

    Required Skills and Experiences:

    · Must be a U.S. citizen.

    · An Active secret security clearance.

    DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

    · Ten (10) years of experience in the design, operation, maintenance, or testing of watercraft or similar crafts to include working experience with United States Coast Guard (USCG), American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and Department of Defense (DoD) standards for watercraft; Experience working with materials (i.e., steel, aluminum, Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) and wood)

    · Three (3) years of supervisory experience.

    Degree Requirements:

    · Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or Engineering from an accredited college or university.
