    Job Description

    As the head of CCCS's athletic program, the Athletic Director (AD) oversees all aspects, including coaching staff, conference involvement, supervision of assistants, and budget management.

    The Athletic Director's roles include the following:

    Managing the Athletic Staff
    • Hiring and Training Coaches: Recruit and train coaches who share CCCS's mission, values, and faith statement.
    • Promoting Positive Culture: Foster a positive atmosphere emphasizing accountability and respect.
    • Supporting Professional Development: Coordinate and encourage coaches' professional growth opportunities.
    • Goal Setting and Evaluation: Establish and oversee goal-setting and evaluation processes for all coaches.
    • Ensuring Proper Interactions: Ensure coaches adhere to appropriate standards in their interactions with students, both in person and online.
    • Mentoring and Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to the assistant athletic director and administrative assistant to the athletic director, if applicable.
    School Responsibilities
    • Conduct leadership training sessions for coaches and student leaders within the athletic program to enhance their effectiveness and impact.
    • Collaborate with the Dean of Academics to ensure student-athletes meet minimum grade requirements for participation, fostering academic success alongside athletic achievement.
    • Coordinate with the front desk and Marketing team to promote upcoming games and events, ensuring effective communication and engagement with the school community.
    • Oversee the management of school vans, including maintenance, fueling, and scheduling to optimize usage and efficiency.
    • Lead the athletics program with a steadfast commitment to honor, integrity, sportsmanship, and Christian values, reflecting our mission and beliefs.
    • As needed, teaching such as Physical Education or other classes may be assigned.
    Administration of Competitions
    • Oversee the scheduling of all athletic contests, including coordination of on- and off-campus facilities for practices and games.
    • Manage arrangements for transportation to away games and off-site practices, ensuring compliance with league and sport requirements.
    • Coordinate staffing for home games, securing appropriate referees, scorekeepers, and other personnel in collaboration with coaches, parent volunteers, and team managers.
    • Develop comprehensive travel plans for team trips, including athlete room assignments, event schedules, communication protocols for parent chaperones, and emergency contact information.
    • Ensure the exclusive use of school vans for transporting student athletes to sponsored events, with prior permission.
    • Represent CCCS at all home athletic events, adhering to league expectations, and arrange suitable alternatives in exceptional circumstances where personal presence is not possible.
    • Serve as the authoritative figure on all sports overnight trips, ensuring comprehensive planning and leadership in adherence to school policies and safety protocols. In rare instances of absence, provide a detailed plan for trip leadership by qualified school staff, subject to administrative approval.
    Managing Facilities and Equipment & Budgeting
    • Collaborate with the Business Office to develop and manage the athletic budget, including athletic salaries budget.
    • Responsible for purchasing all equipment and uniforms required for athletic programs.
    • Supervise the storage and maintenance of equipment and uniforms to ensure longevity and safety standards are met.
    • Coordinate with the Director of Maintenance to maintain all athletic facilities, ensuring they are in optimal condition for use.
    • Manage the issuance and collection of uniforms to student athletes through coaches, maintaining accurate records.
    • Oversee the scheduling of all facilities to accommodate athletic practices, games, and events, optimizing usage and minimizing conflicts.
    Outreach & Relationship Management (High School)
    • Actively promote athletics within the school community through various channels and events.
    • Update and manage the sports hotline (TeamSnap) to facilitate effective communication with parents and student-athletes.
    • Attend all Bay Counties League (BCL) Athletic Director meetings to foster positive relationships with counterparts.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for the North Coast Section (NCS) of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and represent CCCS in the Bay Counties League of the Bay Area Conference (BAC).
    • Ensure compliance with all NCS, CIF, and BAC protocols in collaboration with CCCS administration.
    • Manage partnerships, including facilities arrangements, with the City of Walnut Creek and other off-campus facilities.
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with other community organizations to enhance the athletic program's impact.
    • Cultivate and sustain constructive partnerships with external community organizations.
    • Organize an annual sports banquet, typically hosted at the Back 40 restaurant in May, to recognize the achievements of our coaches, players, and teams.
      • Ensure that every player is recognized and appreciated in a fair and respectful manner.
      • Uphold the longstanding customs of CCCS athletics by managing relevant records and selecting recipients for traditional accolades.
    • Handle and address all parental concerns that are brought to the attention of the Athletic Director, including managing any necessary negotiations or resolutions.
    Program Visibility (High School)
    • Create and produce all informational materials including letters, brochures, and handbooks for the athletic office, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.
    • Organize and distribute athletic awards during the sports awards banquet, ensuring recognition for outstanding achievements by athletes and coaches.
    • Manage the upkeep and storage of banners, blankets, trophies, plaques, and other sports-related memorabilia, ensuring their proper maintenance and organization within the athletic department.
    Outreach & Relationship Management (Middle School)
    • Promote athletics within the school community.
    • Maintain and update the sports hotline (TeamSnap) to facilitate communication with parents and student-athletes.
    • Participate in all Bay Area Christian Schools Athletic League (BACSAL) Athletic Director meetings and foster positive relationships with fellow BACSAL Athletic Directors.
    • Oversee the partnership with the City of Walnut Creek, including facilities arrangements.
    • Manage relationships with other off-campus facilities.
    • Establish and maintain positive connections with other community organizations.
    • Organize and oversee the execution of Sports Awards ceremonies at the end of each sports season.
    • Address and resolve parental concerns brought to the attention of the Athletic Director through effective communication and negotiation.
    Program Visibility (Middle School)
    • Manage and distribute athletic awards during sports awards events.
    • Supervise the upkeep of banners, blankets, trophies, plaques, and other sports memorabilia within the athletic department.
    • Ensure representation at all home games for various sports; delegate responsibilities to other administrators if unable to attend specific games.

    • Reflect on personal teaching practice in order to develop and grow professionally
    • Maintain accurate, timely records of instructional and non-instructional events
    • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional development
    • Maintain professional relationship with colleagues and work together for improved instruction and student success

    • Collaborate with colleagues to implement and support all school activities, including spirit weeks, field trips and chapels, especially in the Elementary School

    Required Professional Qualities:
    • Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field or will participate in a program to complete such a degree within a specified time period.

    • Experience in coaching, event planning, supervision, and other related job functions.
    • Agreement and dedication to the school's doctrinal statement and all qualifications for service outlined in the employee handbook.

    Type of Position:

    This is a Regular Full-Time Teacher/Salaried position, Classification A in the CCCS Employee Handbook.

    Salary ranges from $53,500 - $70,000 and is dependent upon experience and certifications.
