- Possession of high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
- Graduate of college, university or technical school preferred.
- Minimum of (2) years experience in computer and network systems or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties of the position
- Hold a valid NJ driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Flexible with scheduled hours. Work hours will be 10 am to 6 pm.
- Knowledge of design, configuration, installation, testing and maintenance of local and wide area wired and wireless networks
- Knowledge of computer network operating system software and hardware
- Knowledge of network protocols.
- Troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose/resolve network connectivity problems
- Ability to assist the network engineer with developing network security and related procedures; and assist with performing network management activities.
- Must be knowledgeable in codes, industry standards and best practices.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES - Responsible for managing, supporting and troubleshooting the district's phones, paging systems and ensuring they support the district's safety and security policies.
- Active Directory knowledge including GPO and Sites and Services
- Installs voice and data cabling by running, pulling, terminating CAT6 cabling.
- Knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Install, configure switches and add VLANs
- Provides assistance to Network Engineer and district technicians; troubleshoots network failures and errors; and diagnoses, isolates, and resolves network problems network minimizing disruptions.
- Performs diagnostics, schedules preventative maintenance ensuring network systems are operational, including on-premise and off-site backup and recovery.
- Assists with developing, monitoring, and implementing network security procedures for safeguarding all networking systems.
- Assists maintaining records of work completed and work in-progress and updates network documentation for installations, upgrades, configurations, etc.
- Tracks all work performed in the help desk work order system.
- Travels to and from schools/work sites in the performance of duties.
- All other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology or designee.
