    JUNIOR NETWORK ENGINEER (Job Description subject to change)

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
    • Possession of high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
    • Graduate of college, university or technical school preferred.
    • Minimum of (2) years experience in computer and network systems or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties of the position
    • Hold a valid NJ driver's license and satisfactory driving record
    • Flexible with scheduled hours. Work hours will be 10 am to 6 pm.
    • Knowledge of design, configuration, installation, testing and maintenance of local and wide area wired and wireless networks
    • Knowledge of computer network operating system software and hardware
    • Knowledge of network protocols.
    • Troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose/resolve network connectivity problems
    • Ability to assist the network engineer with developing network security and related procedures; and assist with performing network management activities.
    • Must be knowledgeable in codes, industry standards and best practices.

      PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
    Responsible for installation, administration, and testing of network servers, operating system software, hubs, routers, switches, cabling, and other related network components/equipment on wired and wireless networks.
    1. Responsible for managing, supporting and troubleshooting the district's phones, paging systems and ensuring they support the district's safety and security policies.
    2. Active Directory knowledge including GPO and Sites and Services
    3. Installs voice and data cabling by running, pulling, terminating CAT6 cabling.
    4. Knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
    5. Install, configure switches and add VLANs
    6. Provides assistance to Network Engineer and district technicians; troubleshoots network failures and errors; and diagnoses, isolates, and resolves network problems network minimizing disruptions.
    7. Performs diagnostics, schedules preventative maintenance ensuring network systems are operational, including on-premise and off-site backup and recovery.
    8. Assists with developing, monitoring, and implementing network security procedures for safeguarding all networking systems.
    9. Assists maintaining records of work completed and work in-progress and updates network documentation for installations, upgrades, configurations, etc.
    10. Tracks all work performed in the help desk work order system.
    11. Travels to and from schools/work sites in the performance of duties.
    12. All other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology or designee.
