    Job Title: Job Coach


    Status: Nonexempt/At-Will

    Primary Purpose:


    This position is responsible for providing direct instruction to students in a variety of training environments in the community, functioning as a liaison with teacher, VAC's and diagnostician to monitor student performance.

    Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.


    Qualifications:

    Education/Certification:
    High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
    Have met formal academic assessment (TOPP Region 20 Assessment, 70%), associate's degree, or two years of study (48 hours) at an institution of higher learning
    • Meet criteria to obtain a valid Texas educational aide certificate

    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    Ability to work with children with disabilities
    Ability to independently supervise up to ten months in community training sites
    Above average oral and written communication skills
    Ability to assume responsibility and execute job requirements with minimum supervision


    Experience:
    Experience working with special population preferred


    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    Student Management

    • Conducts training for new students on the use of public transportation.
    • Documents attendance and student performance on a daily basis.
    • Provides vocational training to students in various business and community agency environments.
    • Provides consultation in the negotiation and development of new training sites.
    • Assists in Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee meetings as assigned.
    • Maintains equipment and supplies in training areas as needed.
    • Maintains positive public relations with employees, local and state agencies, and parent groups.
    • Establishes work training schedules, coordinating training needs of students with priorities of the
    employer.


    • Prepares six-weeks reports on student performance for parents.
    • Identifies and documents students' vocational strengths, interests, and areas in need of improvement.
    • Conducts job search activities for students in Community Training Programs.
    • Provides instruction in Personal/Social Adjustment Training for students.
    • Assists students in the development of a current resume.
    • Conducts home visits and consult with parents of students in community-based training programs.
    • Conducts job readiness classes for students involved in job search.

    • Maintain confidentiality.
    • Participate in professional development programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
    • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
    • Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned by the campus principal or designee.

    Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students

    Posture: Frequent standing; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting


    Motion: Frequent walking and reaching


    Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting nonambulatory students

    Environment: Office and Field Environment; exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases)

    Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

    *Required by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for aides who are providing instructional support in Title I, Part A program.
