    Trash Helper Position

    As a trash helper at Patriot, you will work closely with the truck driver to assist with picking up and disposing of trash and recyclables from various locations. You will be responsible for safely operating equipment and helping with the loading and unloading of waste in various truck models, including rear load, front load, and roll-off garbage trucks. This physically demanding role requires heavy lifting, walking, and climbing in and out of the truck while working in a variety of weather conditions.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Safely and efficiently assist the driver in picking up trash and disposing of it in the truck.
    • Operate lever hand controls for hydraulic machinery when needed.
    • Assist the driver with backing up the truck in tight spaces or difficult environments.
    • Perform heavy lifting and assist with sorting and loading materials.
    • Navigate through streets, alleyways, highways, and construction sites.
    • Follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment.
    • Ensure proper disposal of trash and recyclables in the truck's designated areas.
    • Maintain truck cleanliness and ensure all operations are performed in compliance with Patriots safety standards.

    Working conditions:

    • Full-time, year-round position.
    • Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays as needed.
    • Physical activity including heavy lifting, fast-paced walking, and climbing in and out of the truck.
    • Outdoor work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and in all weather conditions.
    • Must be able to lift 70+ pounds throughout a typical shift.
    • Ability to operate lever hand controls for hydraulic machinery.
    • Team player with strong communication skills and a dedication to safety.
    • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours.
